Malaysian cargo ship stranded on Odisha coast after technical glitch

Chilika: A Malaysian cargo ship en-route to Vishakhapatnam anchored off the Odisha coast near Khirisahi under Krushnaprasad block of Puri district following a technical glitch for last two days.

The ship with a total10 crew members including nine Malaysian and one Indian citizen was veered off its sea route towards the coast due to disturbed sea, say reports.

The incident came to light after some locals spotted the ship near the Chilika river mouth and tried to communicate with the crew members out of curiosity but failed in their attempt due to the language barrier.

Later, the district administration and local police swung into action and sent a technical team to carry out a repair of the stranded sea near Rajhans coast.

The ship was carrying a consignment of iron ore and other minerals from Malaysia to Bangladesh and was heading to Vishakhapatnam after its unload when caught in the storm, informed district administration sources.
