The Lingaraj temple controversy continues on day two, daily rituals remained suspended in the temple on Thursday.

Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj temple controversy continues on day two, daily rituals remained suspended in the temple on Thursday. Lord Lingaraj has gone without food for two days now.

Land dispute in Lingaraj temple on Tuesday has led to the stoppage of daily rituals since yesterday, said reports. It was alleged that during the construction, work of the temple was stopped due to other various challenges.

The Puja Panda and the Brahmin Niyog are adamant in stopping the Niti Kanti (rituals) following the Lingaraj temple controversy, pointing out that there is a major lack of arrangements and land related issues.

On the other hand due to the land dispute in Lingaraj temple and non-arrival of Puja Panda, the rituals after the Mangala Aalati have been stopped. In this regard, it has been reported that the Lingaraj temple authority had informed the ADM on Wednesday.

On August 29 this year, Lord Lingaraj was also surrounded by controversy and was made to go without food and worship. There was a sevayat fight in Lingaraj temple that led to the stoppage of daily rituals, said reports.

After the ritual of Badasinghar all the other rituals have been stopped. Concerns have been raised by the devotees, relating to the matter.

The controversy is said to be around the Paita Lagi ritual of Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar. There was a conflict between two sets of servitors of Lingaraj temple since yesterday. The two conflicting groups were Puja Pandas and Badu Nijoga.

Daily rituals had not been performed nor had prasad been cooked for Lord Lingaraj the ruling deity of Bhubaneswar.

The conflict allegedly arose due to the ‘Paita Lagi’ ritual and relating to this the puja has been stopped. The said disagreement is yet to be resolved. Dissatisfaction has been seen from all quarters regarding the fact that the rituals have been ignored.

The matter had been brought under the notice of Odisha Hindu Religious Endowment Commission for being heard.

The same conflict had arisen in August last year and had been solved after almost two days during which the Lord had gone without food or any rituals.
