Jagannath Temple In Puri To Be Closed Once A Week For Sanitization, See Details

Puri: The Jagannath temple in Puri will be closed for one day in a week keeping in view the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Odisha.

It had been proposed at the Chhatisa Nijog meeting on Tuesday to restrict the entry of devotees inside Srimandir for one day in every week.

According to reports, the final decision regarding the closure of the temple for a day shall be taken by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) within a day or two.

At the meeting, the SJTA gave permission for holding of rituals of Dolapurnima Suna Besha on March 28 in an organized manner and following strict Covid regulations.

The temple authorities have requested the devotees to maintain proper social distancing during darshan and rituals in the temple.

The Bhoi and Maharana sevayats will be vaccinated before they get engaged into chariot construction for Rath Yatra in July.
