Puri: As a piece of disheartening news for Jagannath lovers the Gundicha temple has remained closed for more than 3.5 years. Even after three and a half years, the Gundicha temple has not been opened.

It was initially closed for repairs. Later, the Gundicha temple was closed in the controversy of whether it would be auctioned or not.

Meanwhile, the closure of Gundicha temple for more than 3 and a half years has disappointed thousands of Jagannath lovers. Every day thousands of Bengali tourists go to Gundicha temple and return disappointed.

It is worth mentioning here that, the Gundicha Temple is open only for nine days a year, that is during the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannth.

The Gundicha temple is believed to be the aunt’s house of Lord Jagannath. He makes a yearly visit to the temple during the Rath Yatra. It is only during this time that devotees of Lord Jagannath can visit the temple.
