However, he maintained that next 30 hours will be crucial for the twins.

Speaking to media persons this morning, Jena said the twins have been put under round the clock observation at the AIIMS ICU and a team of specialist doctors have been engaged on duty for this purpose. He expressed his hopefulness for the speedy recovery of the twins.

Earlier this morning,  while talking to Kalinga TV on the condition and medical care of the twins, AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria informed that Jaga-Balia have been put under strict observation to prevent post-surgical complicacies.

“While we have successfully separated the twins by surgery, there are several other issues related to ICU and critical care which are needed to be dealt very carefully. We are trying our level best to prevent post-operative complicacies like seizure and infection to keep the children safe,” said Guleria.

Being asked whether the surgery was a challenging one, Guleria answered positively and informed that as it was a rare surgery, doctors at AIIMS took assistance of physicians from abroad having experience in such cases. However, he maintained that this type of separation surgery is rare all over the world and nobody has an expertise in it.
