IMD issues thunderstorm, lightning alert for 21 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least 21 districts of Odisha today.

As per the latest Nowcast of the MeT Department districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khordha including Bhubaneswar; Balangir, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nuapada, Cuttack including Cuttack city; and Mayurbhanj are likely to experience moderate thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall at one or two places between 2 pm and 6 pm.

In view of the extreme weather condition people in the alerted districts have been advised to take shelter in safe places and cautioned against venturing out of their homes.
