Bhubaneswar: The IMD Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least 13 districts of Odisha today till 1.30 PM.
As per the latest Nowcast of the IMD issued this morning, spells of moderate rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur in districts of Odisha like Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Nayagarh and Ganjam.
The Weatherman has cautioned people living in the alerted districts against venturing out of their homes and advised to move to safe places to avoid any kind of eventuality.
Earlier, an IMD release had predicted heavy rainfall across the state triggered by a cyclonic-circulation formed over north-east Bay of Bengal in next 48 hours. It said the rainfall in the state will increase gradually from Wednesday.
