Puri: Tension ran high at an illegal sawmill in Kathuaredi area under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district today after Vigilance and Forest officials raided it and tried to seal.
Acting upon a tip-off a joint team of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri Vigilance unit sleuths and Puri Forest Division officials raided the sawmill this morning. During the raid the officials found the mill operating without a valid license and required permission of Forest Department.
As the officials tried to seal the mill the owner and staff of it protested the action and tried them from carrying out the sealing activity.
More policemen were rushed to the spot to control the protesters later and the raid was executed.
