I am blind, but is the BEO blind? Is the Sub-Collector blind?, asks student over shortage of teachers in his school in Odisha

Kalahandi: ‘I am blind.. But is the BEO blind? Is the sub-collector blind? Is the Govt blind?,’ are the questions asked by a visually-impaired student while he was taking a jab at the Odisha government.

It is to be noted here that locals of Beheraguda village in Kalahandi district have been agitating over the shortage of teachers in Beheraguda Upper Primary School for the last 11 days. They have locked the main gate of the school to press their demand.

Today, a team of administration led by the Dharmagarh Block Education Officer (BEO), Kishore Sahu and police officers visited the school and informed the agitating villagers regarding the temporary appointment of two schools in the school.

The team had a discussion with the locals over the matter during which one Jashobant Chhatria, a class six student of Beheraguda Upper Primary School came down heavily on the administration and the State government.

“I am blind. I can’t see what’s happening around me. But is the BEO blind too? Have the DEO, Collector, Odisha government have gone blind? Can’t they see we do not have sufficient teachers at our school?,” Jashobant Chhatria questioned while speaking on the occasion.

Jashobant Chhatria claimed that there are 425 students in the Upper Primary School while there are only seven teachers for them.

Appreciations have started to pour-in for Jashobant Chhatria for his courage after his video raising questions at the government and government officials have gone viral on different social media platforms.
