Malkangiri: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal drug traders, police seized huge cache of ganja from a water tanker in Mathili area in Malkangiri district on Monday.
The driver of the vehicle was also taken into custody. His identity is yet to be ascertained.
Acting upon a tip-off a team of Mathili Police conducted the raid this morning and intercepted the tanker following a brief chase. During the search of the vehicle ganja weighing around 1500 kg was found inside it and were seized.
The ganja was being transported to Uttar Pradesh to get delivered to a party, informed police. The consignment would cost around 1.5 cr, they added.
Interrogation of the held accused is underway by police to elicit more information on the drug trade.
