Herd of 16 elephants spotted in Odisha’s Cuttack

In a recent incident that took place last night, a herd of 16 elephants was spotted roaming freely on the streets of Cuttack near Bhagipur.

Cuttack: From the past few days, elephant fear has gripped the local people residing around Chandaka – Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary. Multiple incidents of elephants venturing into settlements have been reported.

In a recent incident that took place last night, a herd of 16 elephants was spotted roaming freely on the streets of Cuttack near Bhagipur area. Complaints from the local residents prompted officials from the Bhagipur forest department to arrive at the spot and chase the elephants away.

After sometime, the herd of elephants returned to Chandaka sanctuary at night. Incidents like these have left the local people panic stricken. People are afraid of moving out on the roads during the evening hours.
