Koraput: Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of the International Women’s Day in Koraput district on Friday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi promised to provide free education to every girl in Odisha if voted to power in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking about his party’s decision Rahul said that the Congress government, if comes to power in Odisha, will provide free education to every girl in the state be it the technical education, school or college education or any kind of higher education.
This apart, Rahul also announced to provide marriage kit for the poor women for their marriage saying his party will provide Rs 2,000 widow allowance and financial assistance for their marriage.
Expressing his deep concern over the rising violence against women, the Congress president said that the grand-old party maintains zero tolerance for atrocities on women. We will appoint special officers in every panchayat and set up a financial corporation for women entrepreneurs, he said.
