Former Congress leader Pranay Sahu joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: Putting all speculations aside, former Congress leader Pranay Kumar Sahu joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) along with his hundreds of supporters here today.

BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik formally inducted Sahu into the part fold at Naveen Niwas in the morning where Bijepur MLA Rita Sahu also remained present.

Soon after the joining of Sahu, Naveen in his reaction to media said, expressed happiness over the development and said the Ex-Congress leader’s inclusion will definitely strengthen BJD.

Similarly, Sahu also expressed his gratitude to the BJD supremo for accepting him in the Conch Party and said it will definitely affect Congress’ performance in the upcoming election. I have joined only for my area’s interests, he added.

Notably, Sahu had tendered his resignation addressed to OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik along with a copy to Bargarh District Congress Committee (DCC) Satyabhushan Sahu yesterday. Later in his reaction to media Sahu claimed, Congress had been defeated in the Bijepur bypoll last year. He had then asked the party leadership to find out the real cause behind such poor performance to went unheard and compelled him to quit.
