Former BJD leader Balabhadra Majhi joins BJP

Bhubaneswar: Putting all speculations to rest, Nabarangpur MP and former BJD leader Balabhadra Majhi today joined BJP at a special function at New Delhi.

BJP’s national vice-president Baijayant Panda, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram welcomed and inducted Majhi into the saffron party fold.

Notably, Majhi tendered his resignation to the Secretary of Odisha CM and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence on March 14. In the letter, the MP had mentioned that he was cheated and was “no more required in the party”.

In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Majhi defeated Congress heavyweight Pradeep Majhi in Nabarangpur Parliamentary constituency.
