Farmer kills self over crop loss due to animal incursion in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A farmer committed suicide in Puruna Jhankarpali village under Burla Police Station area in the district allegedly due to crop loss caused by animal incursion yesterday.

The deceased farmer has been identified as Pramod Rohidas (34).

As per the family members of Pramod, cattle herds from the neighbouring village were causing crop damage in his farmland repeatedly for past few months, due to which he had incurred huge financial loss. However, after all his complaints to the concerned authorities fell on deaf years, he started remaining under immense mental stress for past few days and attempted suicide by consuming poison in the afternoon on Saturday.

Though the family members of Pramod rushed him immediately to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have registered a case in the incident and started investigation.
