Ex-MLA Of Balikuda, Umesh Swain Passes Away, Odisha CM Mourns Death

Bhubaneswar: Former Balikuda MLA, Umesh Chandra Swain passed away at his residence in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning.

He was 71-years-old and died of a cardiac arrest informed his family members.

He passed away at his residence in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, his last rites will be performed at native Machhagaon village in Jagatsinghpur district.

He was elected four times as the MLA of Balikuda in Jgatsinghpur district of Odisha.

He was a close aide of former Chief Minister of Odisha late Biju Patnaik.

Swain was highly popular, loved and respected by people in his constituency as he had carried out a number of developmental activities and helped them a lot during the Super Cyclone of 1999.

Odisha Chief Minister NAveen Patnaik has mourned his death on his official twitter handle. He has written: “I am saddened to learn of the death of Umesh Chandra Swain, the former MLA from Balikuda constituency.”

The CM further added, “As a people’s representative, he will always be remembered for his selfless service and public welfare work.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family”, tweeted the CM.
