Cuttack: An engineering student met went missing while taking bath at Naraj Anicut in Mahanadi river in Cuttack district today.
The victim has been identified as Vicky Kumar, a resident of neighbouring Jharkhand State.
Vicky, who was pursuing his engineering degree at an engineering college located in Tangi area, had been to take bath in the river along with four of his friends in the noon when the mishap took place. All of them slipped into the water and got swept away by strong current at the anicut. While his friends managed to swim ashore, Vicky didn’t return.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation after getting a call from the victim’s friends.
The victim had remained untraceable till this report was being filed.
