Angul: Tension ran high at the Adarsha College of Engineering located in Adarsha Vihar area in the district on Monday after a student’s dead body was found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room. Family members of the deceased claimed that he has been murdered and demanded an investigation.
The deceased hosteler has been identified as Prince Kumar Singh of Bhagalpur near Aurangabad city of Bihar.
Prince, a 3rd year diploma engineering student reportedly stayed back in his room in the college hostel when all others went for dinner, last evening. After returning from dinner, the inmates found his doors locked from inside. They found Prince hanging from the ceiling after entering the the room by breaking open the door.
Angul Police reached the hostel last night and sealed the room and it was opened this morning after his family members reached the college.
However, the deceased student’s father Dillip Singh claimed that from circumstantial evidences it appears that his son has been killed. He demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident blaming the college authorities.
“My son was mentally very strong, he can’t commit suicide. The college authorities were putting pressure on him to bring more money from home to pay various fees. I suspect he has been killed and demand justice,” said Dillip.
However the Principal of the college Akshay Kumar Singh rubbished all allegations of the family members and maintained that the cause behind the death would come to fore only after the complete investigation.
