Paralakhemundi: With no respite in sight from the growing incidents of sexual assault of minors in the state, a 7-year-old girl has been raped by an elderly man in New Camp Street II under Paralakhemundi police limits yesterday.
As per the report, the victim, a resident of the same area was being sexually exploited continuously by the accused identified as Barik Pradhan (70) for last couple of days. He used to lure the girl on pretext of providing chocolates and then raped.
However, after the victim narrated her ordeal before her father yesterday the incident came to fore and a case was lodged with local police.
Paralakhemundi Police charged the accused under Section 376 (AB) and 506/34 of the IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act and arrested him later yesterday.
