Sundargarh: Duplicate sauce or ketchup bottles have been seized by the Bonai police on Monday and one youth has been arrested in this connection. The arrested accused has been identified as Rahul Prasad Sahu.
Based on reliable information, a pick-up van, bearing registration number OD. 01- AG – 4024, loaded with fake sauce bottles was intercepted by Bonai police and seized 678 bottles along with the van. The pick-up van, carrying the fake sauce supply, was en-route from Rourkela to Bonai.
The traders were making huge profits by supplying fake sauces due to the heavy demand for tomato and chili sauce.
The preliminary investigations have revealed that the sauce was being sold at local fast food shops in the area.
Not only was the sauce fake, but few of the bottles had their manufacturing date printed on it as January 2022.
