Driver beaten to death after dumper-truck collision

Keonjhar: A dumper driver was brutally thrashed to death by some unidentified men who were boarding a truck which dashed against it from rear on Joda-Bamebari road near Banshapani under Joda police limits in the district last night.

The deceased driver has been identified as Sikandar Lohar of Kamarjoda village of Keonjhar.

The workers of a garage located not very far from the spot said the driver of a speeding truck coming from behind lost control over wheels and ended up smacking into the dumper (Registration No. OR 09 D 5241) while trying to overtake it at around 10 PM in the night.

While nobody was hurt in the accident, a heated argument erupted between the driver and helper of the dumper and the truck following the crash. In a fit of rage some men boarding the truck took out weapons and attacked the duo. While the helper managed to escape from the spot, Sikandar died in the attack. He was later dumped in a nearby field by the attackers who fled the spot immediately.

Locals staged a road blockade on Joda-Bamebari road today morning demanding justice for the deceased.

Police had reached the spot and was trying to pacify the mob till this report was being filed.
