Dinja Jakesika becomes first Dongaria Kondh to obtain passport

Bhubaneswar: Dinja Jakesika of Kurli village under Bissam Cuttack Block in Rayagada district created history by obtaining a passport today. Dinja Jakesika became the first from the Dongaria Kondh tribe, one of the officially designated primitive tribal groups (PTG) in Odisha, to get the passport to go to Indonesia.

Dinja is the daughter of Manda Jakesika and the Sarapanch of Kurli Panchayat. She had applied for a passport in the Regional Passport Office, Bhubaneswar today but had problem pertaining to some error in her Aadhaar card, PAN card and voter ID document. However, the issue was solved within no time with the intervention of regional passport officer Digbijoy Giri.

Jakesika is slated to visit Bali for the first International Indigenous Film Festival from January 26-28. The entire tribal community is elated over the news.
