Dhenkanal: Miscreants ask woman to ‘walk 51 steps to meet God’, loot jewelry worth Rs 3 lakh, watch

Dhenkanal: Miscreants ask woman to walk 51 steps to meet God to loot jewelry worth more than Rs 3 lakh in Odisha. The incident took place in a busy street at the Minabazar area of Dhenkanal town on Saturday.

As per reports, a woman was returning home along with her daughter after repairing a mobile phone in Dhenkanal on Saturday when she fell victim to a loot to the tune of Rs 3 lakh.

Reportedly, Swarnaprabha Sahu was returning home with her daughter when a gang of two looters, befooled them, won their trust trickily and managed to flee with their gold jewelries as well as cash money worth more than Rs 3 lakh in totol.

In Minabazar area a man was pretending as a fortune teller while the other member of the gang was acting like a customer. The two trickily involved the woman so that they can win her trust. First, one fraudster asked the other to walk 51 steps to meet God and pray for the bad omen of his family members. They asked the woman to hold money of the man for some time. Then he walked 51 steps and returned and acted like as if he actually met God.

After witnessing this episode, the simple lady believed them. Meanwhile one of the fraudsters said the woman that her daughter, son and husband are moving through a very bad time and if she would not do something about this, her son might face the music by today evening. This was enough for the lady to have a try for the wellbeing of her family members for which she lost jewelry worth more than Rs 3 lakh.

Then the fraudsters asked the woman to handover the jewelries to the one, who was pretending as a customer and walk 51 steps so that she can meet God and pray for the wellbeing of her family members who are in grave danger, as the looters said. They also asked her not to look back during the walk. Beliving them, the woman walked a few steps along with her daughter and when looked back the two miscreants had fled from the scene.

Following the incident only the woman could know that she was befooled. The miscreants trickily took away a gold chain, 2 gold rings, Mangalsutra and Rs 8 thousand from the woman.

After she felt that she was befooled and looted, she intimated the matter to Dhenkanal Town Thana Police. The Police personnel visited the spot and initiated investigation to nab the culprits. Police have also collected the CCTV footage of the loot. Further investigation of the case is underway.
