Dharmendra Pradhan Urges Civil Aviation Minister For Jharsuguda-Mumbai Direct Flight

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep S Puri, requesting his personal intervention in launching direct flights between Jharsuguda and Mumbai at the earliest.

With the huge commercial success of flight operation by SpiceJet from Jharsuguda to New Delhi, Pradhan urged his civil aviation counterpart to launch a direct flight service between Jharsuguda and country’s financial capital Mumbai under UDAN scheme.

“The SpiceJet has commenced air operations from Jharsuguda with a direct flight to New Delhi. The route has been a great commercial success and has also massively benefitted the people of western Odisha, who can now fly directly to the national capital. Besides, SpiceJet has also introduced flights to Hyderabad and Kolkata from Jharsuguda which is giving more connectivity for the passengers travelling to northeast and southern part of the country. However, there is a lack of direct air connectivity between western Odisha and India’s commercial capital Mumbai,” Pradhan said in the letter dated on November 6.

“ Keeping in mind the benefit of the people of western part of Odisha, I take this opportunity to request your personal intervention in commencement of a direct flight between Jharsuguda and Mumbai at the earliest,” he added.

Earlier in September, Pradhan had requested Puri to launch a direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Dubai.
