Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: The deer shifting from Cuttack to Chandaka in Bhubaneswar seems to be perilous as two have died in one week, said reliable reports.

Reports say, Chandaka seems to be a threat to the deer of Cuttack Deer Park. The deer from Tulsipur Deer Park, Cuttack who have been transferred to Chandka-Dampada Sanctuary are not in good condition.

Out of the 125 deer that were translocated over the weekend, as many as two have died. More than two dozen have fallen ill. Some of them are still undergoing treatment as they are more serious.

Due to migration and sudden change of habitat, some of the deer are not eating properly. Even though the deer have been moved since almost a week, there is no change in their behavior. They prefer to stay together as before.

Even if they are left in the wider environment, they are not moving. Deer have difficulty in adapting to the environment. However it is worth mentioning here that, the health of all 51 deer kept in the Bharatpur protected forest reserve is good.
