Cuttack Bomb Blast: Five live bombs found in damaged house, investigation underway

Cuttack: At least five live bombs were recovered from the house which had been damaged in bomb explosion at Ghodabara village under Banki police limits in the district last night killing at least two persons and leaving another critically hurt.

Informing on the investigation process, Additional SP Cuttack N C Swain said, the scientific team engaged on duty at the bomb blast site recovered five more live bombs and defused them this morning. Explosive remnants including gun powder, ropes and several other equipment used in making bombs were seized from the spot also, he added.

However, the Additional SP ruled rubbished the speculation of bomb attack over past enmity and said for the circumstantial evidences it seems that the victim trio were preparing bombs inside the house when the explosion took place due to technical glitch.

Notably, the explosion took place at around 7 PM yesterday, completely destroying the house and blowing its roofs. While at least two persons identified as two cousins namely Pabitra Nayak (32) and Manas Nayak (27) died on the spot, one Paramananda got trapped under the debris of the damaged house following the explosion.

Paramananda was rescued in a critical condition from the debris this morning with the help of a JCB and was sent to SCB Medical in Cuttack.
