Covid 19 Update: Rising positive cases sparks concern for Odisha’s Twin city

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reported a sharp rise in Covid positive cases in last 24 hours. As many as 341 cases were reported in Bhubaneswar on January 5. On the other hand, Cuttack city (CMC area) has reported 65 positive cases today.

According to reports by BMC, out of the total 341 positive cases detected today, 31 positive cases are quarantine cases while local contact cases are 310. The positive cases linked with earlier positive cases are 31.

The total cases in Bhubaneswar now stand at 1, 24,454 while the total recovered cases are 1, 22,294. The total number of death cases recorded in the BMC is 1102.  Active cases in the city are 1037. The number of recovered cases today is 98.

As reported on Wednesday by CMC, out of the 65 new cases reported, 24 cases were local contact cases. The total case from home quarantine is 35. 6 cases of institutional quarantine cases were recorded today in the silver city.

Total Covid-19 cases in Cuttack city are 46,160 while the recovered cases are 45,482. The active cases today are 249.

On January 5, 2022, as many as 1216 Covid-19 positive cases including 456 from Khordha have been detected in the last 24 hours.

The total cases include 187 in the 0-18 years age group have been found, informed the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Wednesday.

Among the 1216 positives, 710 are quarantine cases and 506 are local contacts.
