Congress launches ‘Indira Jyoti Jatra’ in Odisha

Indira Jyoti JatraBhubaneswar: OPCC President Prasad Harichandan  flagged off the ‘Indira Jyoti Jatra’ on the occasion of 33rd death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India  Indira Gandhi here on Tuesday.

‘Indira Jyoti Jatra’would march across the state and conclude its journey on November 19, on the day of Indira’s 100th birth anniversary.

“Late Indira Gandhi’s 100th birth anniversary is being celebrated on November 19 and to mark the occasion OPCC has launched the Indira Jyoti Jatra. It would cover the whole state”, said Prasad after flagging off the jatra.

“We also remember Sardar Valllavbhai Patel on his 142nd birth anniversary today”, he added.

Earlier on the day, party leaders and supporters paid floral tributes at the statue of Gandhi at IG park in the capital city. A book was also released on the occasion.

Later on a public meeting was also held where party leaders commemorated the achievements of the former Prime Minister along with her contribution to the country.
