Khurda: Body of a girl student of a government college in the district was found hanging in the room of a private hostel this evening.
The deceased student has been identified as Swapnapriya Baliarsingh, a student of Plus Two first year of Prananath Autonomous College in Khurda. She was staying in a private hostel.
The matter came to light when some of the hostel staff broke the door open after getting information from her fellow inmates who noticed her room locked longer than usual and no response was heard from inside.
They found the deceased girl hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta. Later, they informed the local police who arrived on the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.
The body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem and her parents also have been informed about the incident.
Though the exact reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained, from prima facie cops suspect it to be a case of suicide.
