Cold wave grips Odisha, 14 cities record temperature below 10 degree Celsius

Winter continues to grip Odisha due to the prevailing cold wave. 14 cities have recorded nighttime temperature below 10 degree Celsius. 

Bhubaneswar: Winter continues to grip Odisha under the influence of the prevailing cold wave. The minimum nighttime temperature in Odisha has fallen to two to three degree Celsius. As of the latest updates, 14 cities across Odisha continue to record nighttime temperature below 10 degree Celsius.

So far in this winter season, the lowest daily average temperature has been in G Udayagiri. This area in the Kandhamal district has recorded minimum temperature at five degree Celsius. Meanwhile, minimum temperature of some other cities across Odisha have been recorded as follows: Seven degree Celsius in Phulbani, 7.5 degree Celsius in Kireo, eight degree Celsius in Koraput, 8.4 in Semiliguda, and 8.5 in Daringbadi.

Further, the minimum temperature across the twin cities of Odisha, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, has been recorded at 13 degree Celsius. Moderate fog can be anticipated in several areas across the state from December 24 to December 26. Forecast from the Regional Meteorological Department suggests that the cold wave in Odisha is to continue its impact for the next three days at least.

Due to the extreme cold in Odisha, people can be seen setting up bonfires at several places. Both young and old ones can be seen exercising during the morning hours to battle the cold.
