Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned Rs 1 Crore from the CM’s Relief Fund for Jaga-Balia, the conjoined twins from Kandhamal, who are being treated at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena has announced the CM’s decision on his Twitter handle.
The amount will be given to the Director of AIIMS, New Delhi. The monetary assistance was sanctioned as per the advice of the doctors treating them. The AIIMS would seek help of foreign experts during the surgery if needed.
The plight of Jaga-Balia was first highlighted by Kalinga TV in November 2016 and then on June 7 on Kalinga Bandhu programme. Later, other media houses took up the case, which forced the government to act.
