Centre to issue guidelines on use Of ZyCoV-D Covid Vaccine in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: India’s drug regulator on Friday approved Zydus Cadila’s India-developed anti-Covid jab ZyCoV-D for emergency use in adults and children aged 12 years and above. The Centre is yet to issue guidelines in this regard, said Director of Medical Education & Training (DMET) Dr CBK Mohanty on Saturday.

We will arrange for vaccines once the guidelines comes. Around 12 percent of the children are infected from the total Covid positive tally. Vaccination guidelines and supply of vaccines is under the control of the Central Government and the vaccination drive of children can start off only after the Centre frames the guidelines, Mohanty added.

In Bhubaneswar, there is rise in the Covid cases as people are not following the Covid-19 norms strictly implemented by the government, added CBK Mohanty.

ZyCoV-D is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine against Coronavirus.

Noteworthy, Odisha is now witnessing a rise in the number of Covid-19 infections among children below 18 years old for the past few days.
