CBSE to re-conduct Class X Maths, Class XII Economics Exams

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared to re-conduct examination of Maths and Economics papers for Class X and Class XII respectively following leakage of question papers, on Wednesday.

“The board has taken cognizance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With the view to uphold the sanctity of the Board Examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct the examinations in the following subjects,” said an official notification published by the Controller of Examination on official website of CBSE.

“Dates for fresh examinations and the other details shall be hosted on the CBSE website within a week,” added the notification.

While the Class XII Economics examination was held on Monday, the Class X Maths examination was conducted today. However, the question papers were found on WhatsApp in Delhi.

Speaking about the question paper leak, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that some parts of the paper were leaked on WhatsApp & the Union Government has lodged police complaint regarding it. Investigation is underway and strict action will be taken, he added.

“The examinations are conducted across the country but this has been reported only from a few schools in Delhi. Cabinet has approved for National Testing Agency to come into effect from next year to ensure leak-proof examination,” said the Minister.

Meanwhile, the board’s decision has worried students. They said that the question papers were leaked in Delhi only, but why students of other parts should suffer.
