Car Driver Detained For Allegedly Raping Woman In Bhubaneswar Released For Lack Of Evidence

Bhubaneswar: A car driver who was detained for allegedly raping a woman in moving car was let off by police after police did not find any evidence against him.

The victim had alleged that she was kidnapped by the driver from Kalinga Vihar area in Bhubaneswar on November 6 while she was waiting for a bus. She had also alleged the driver of raping her and later dumping her near PN College in Khordha in an unconscious state.

Police said that the medical examination of the victim did not reveal any rape. “The statement of the victim failed to corroborate the crime. The car driver also claimed that the woman levelled false allegation against him as he demanded the money which the woman has taken from him as loan,” said a police official.

Police said that the driver however has served a notice under 41CrPC to cooperate in investigation. “ He has been asked to appear before the police as per need for further investigation in the case,” added the police official.
