Buses carrying migrants to States will not travel through Ghatis: Odisha Transport Minister

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera on Sunday informed that buses carrying migrants from different States to Odisha will not travel through ghats regions.

Behera’s statement came in the wake of two road mishaps at Kalinga Ghati on the boarder of Kandhamal-Ganjam districts in less than 24 hours.

“The accidents are taking place as the drivers of the busses ferrying the migrants are not used to ride and navigate on the roads of ghats. Besides, the buses have a larger length. Therefore, we have thought of changing the routes of the busses carrying migrants to different parts of the State especially to the ghat areas,” said Behera.

It is worthwhile to mention here that two persons were killed while at least four others were injured after two buses met with accidents at Kalinga Ghati.
