Brother-sister duo critically burnt in firecracker explosion in Balangir

Balangir: A minor brother-sister duo sustained critical burn injuries in an accidental fire cracker explosion in Routmunda village under Turekela block in Balangir district on Saturday.

The victims have been identified as Kabita Chhatria (5) and Ganesh Chhatria (3), children of Muniram Chhatria of the same village.

As per the report, a wedding had taken place in the village last night and the groom’s party had dumped some unburst crackers on the roadside during the procession. The victim duo came across those unburst crackers this morning. They were playing with the crackers when one of those went off inflicting injuries on them.

Family members rushed the minor duo with critical burn injuries on hands, face and legs to Turekela Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
