Dharmendra, NarayanBhubaneswar: Dissident BJP leader and the party’s Bargarh District President Narayan Sahu, who had offered his resignation from his post in protest against the entry of former BJD MLA Ashok Panigrahy into the party, has shown signs of reconciliation saying he would obey the party’s decision on candidature for the Bijepur bypoll after Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan intervened in the matter.

“I have been with the BJP since last two decades and will continue to work for the larger interest of the party,” Sahu said. “As a disciplined party worker, I will discharge whatever responsibilities my party leaders entrust upon me,” he said.

Sahu’s statement came after a high level meeting with Dharmendra Pradhan held in the state capital last night in the presence of other senior leaders, including State unit President Basant Panda and Jayanarayan Mishra.

Speaking to media persons, Pradhan said, “Our party is a democratic party and everybody has a right to express his or her view for the benefit of the party”. “There were some disagreements, but they are all resolved now,” he added.

Sahu had offered to resign from his post on Tuesday protesting against joining of BJD leader Ashok Panigrahi in the saffron party. Extending support to Sahu, several Mandal Presidents and local BJP workers had also threatened to leave the party.

Sahu also boycotted the programme where Panigrahi joined the saffron party triggering speculation about dissidents leaving the party.
