Bhubaneswar: Puja Panda and Brahman nijogs members resign from Lingaraj temple trust board
The member of the Puja Panda and Brahman nijogs have reportedly resigned from the Lingaraj temple trust board in Bhubaneswar.
Bhubaneswar: In a latest development to the ongoing dispute between the servitor at the Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, the member of the Puja Panda and Brahman nijogs have reportedly resigned from the Lingaraj temple trust board.
According to reports, the Puja Panda and Brahman nijogs members resigned and sent their resignation letters to the endowment commissioner.
It is to be noted that the rituals at the 11th-century shrine have been disrupted since Wednesday following a dispute between the servitors that include the Brahman nijog, Puja Panda nijog and Badu nijog servitors.
The Brahman nijog and Puja Panda nijog servitors have launched an agitation alleging the Badu nijogs servitors illegally constructing a market complex on 2 acres of land belonging to Lord Lingaraj near Gangua bridge. On the other hand, the Badu nijog servitors claimed that they are constructing the market complex as the erstwhile kings had donated 4.9 acres of land at Nuagaon Mouza to them (they reportedly have the records of the same) for doing ‘seva’ and ‘niti’ of Lord Lingaraj.
Taking a serious note of the disruption of the rituals, the Endowment department initiated action to solve the problem. The assistant commissioner of the department held separate meetings with heads of Brahmana, Puja Panda and Badu nijogs. However, the meetings remained inconclusive. Following which, the collector of Khurda district has been asked to take steps to restore normalcy in the ‘seva’ and ‘niti’ of Lord Lingaraj.
