Ballot box loot allegation in Niali constituency not true: Cuttack DCP

Cuttack: During the second phase polling of Odisha Panchayat polls it had been alleged that the ballot box of booth no 11 in Kurundi village under Kuranga Pradhan gram panchayat in Barang block under Niali constituency had been looted.

Rejecting the allegation Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh said that no such incident took place in the said constituency. He said that after the polling was over polling officials took the ballot boxes from the booth in presence of Police.

There was a misunderstanding between people. There are two booths at one place. In one of these booths polling finished earlier. And hence first the ballot was taken. The locals took it wrongly that it was looted. However, later Police cleared their doubt. Now everything is normal. No rules were violated at this place.

It is to be noted that as per the allegation after the polling was over, miscreants took away the ballot box after freighting the polling officers. The polling was going on at the Radha Madhav Govt High School.
