Baitarani river crosses danger mark in Bhadrak district, many villages marooned

Bhadrak: The flood situation continued to remain grim in many parts of Bhadrak district in Odisha as Baitarani River crossed its danger mark near Akhuapada on Saturday. The river was reportedly flowing at 18.47 metres against the danger mark of 17.83 metres near Akhuapada this morning.

The people of several villages under 16 gram panchayats of Bhadrak, Bhandaripokhari, Chandabali and Dhamnagar blocks were still marooned.

Meanwhile, those marooned in the district alleged that they were being denied of relief materials.

Meanwhile, Collectors of four districts- Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapada have been put in alert to meet any eventuality, informed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty saying holidays of the government employees of these districts have been cancelled.
