ATM robbery in Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police recreates crime scene

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Monday recreated the crime scene of the ATM loot case in Bhubaneswar. The City Police took three arrested persons to an ATM countre to recreate the crime scene to understand the details of their modus operandi.

It is to be noted here that the Commissionerate Police had started an investigation after getting information about loots from 30 ATMs in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

Three accused used to loot money from ATMs by installing special devices in the money kiosks. However, cops arrested two accused persons after they were captured by the locals while looting money from an ATM at Badhei Banka Chhak near Lingaraj police station in Bhubaneswar on August 25. The mastermind of the crime had, however, managed to escape from the spot.

Later, the prime accused was arrested by the special squad of Commissionerate police from Angul on August 26. Cops also seized a huge amount of cash and an MG (Morris Garages) Hector car from his possession.

The three arrested accused persons from outside the State used to move to different cities in the vehicle and target the old ATMs, said sources adding that they had looted crores of rupees from around 30 ATMs with a span of three months.
