Bhubaneswar: In a bid to deal with crimes against senior citizens of Bhubaneswar, Commissionerate Police has appointed Assistant Nodal officers in every senior citizen cell.
According to Police Commission Y.B Khurania, the Assistant Nodal officers will join office on 30th August. One smartphone and bike will be given to each of them for better movement. This will help the Nodal officers in their duty, Khurania said.
Earlier, the police had opened five senior citizen security cells in 2009. However, it is now in place at all police stations coming under the limits of the Commissionerate Police to deal with crimes related to the elderly people effectively.
More than 9000 senior citizens have already registered their names in the senior citizen cells.
