8-year-old girl falls into hole in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

The hole had reportedly been dug to erect an electric pole. However, it had been left uncovered

Malkangiri: An 8-year-old girl fell into an open hole in Malkangiri district of Odisha on Monday. The incident took place in the Indira Colony in Mathili Block of the district. Later, she was rescued and rushed to a hospital.

The victim has been identified as eight year old Mamata Gouda of Indira Colony under Mathili Block.

As per reports, the little girl was playing nearby when she somehow fell into the 6 feet deep manhole. The said manhole had been dug so that later an electric pole can be fixed here. However, it  had been kept uncovered and open.

After the locals came to know about the incident they rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the minor girl. Meanwhile some of them intimated the fire brigade.

After getting information, the fire fighters rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the eight year old girl from the manhole after tough effort for one hour. However, as her condition was critical following the rescue, the victim minor girl was rushed to the hospital in Mathili.

As per the latest reports, health condition of the victim girl is stable. The girl has been admitted to the hospital and is now under treatment.
