Bhubaneswar: The 7-month-old baby girl of Saliasahi who was under treatment in SCB Medical in Cuttack after being thrown into a hearth yesterday by her mentally sick mother, succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
Police have detained the accused mother identified as Suna Pingua following the death of the child and are interrogating her.
As per a police complaint filed by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in the case, Suna indulged in a verbal duel with her husband over some issue yesterday morning. After the argument escalated further and the husband rushed out of home, Suna threw the baby into the burning hearth in a fit of rage.
Some neighbours rescued the baby from fire with serious burn injury and rushed to Capital Hospital. She was later shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack due to deteriorating condition and succumbed under treatment this morning.
