At least six elderly people have lost their eyesight in Odisha allegedly after blotched cataract operation in Bhadrak district.

Bhadrak: At least six elderly people have lost their eyesight in Odisha allegedly after after blotched cataract operation in Bhadrak district.

According to the reports, complaints have been received from six elderly people against a private eye hospital in Bhadrak city that the diagnosis and operation of cataracts was not done properly.

It is worth mentioning that although it is a private hospital, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojna (BSKY) card facility is available here.

It is said that, people lost eyesight in Odisha’s Bhadrak between September 28 and 30. Six elderly people were operated here, six days after the surgery, they complained that they had lost their eyesight completely.

They demanded immediate assistance to those who have lost their eyesight. The patient have warned that otherwise they will sit in protest in front of the hospital.

On the other hand, an investigation will be done and necessary steps will be taken soon,” said the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) in this regard.
