Covid reaches NISER, Bhubaneswar as 31 persons test positive

Bhubaneswar: Amidst the rising cases of Covid-19 in Odisha, as many as 31 persons of the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar have been tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the college and its vicinity have been declared as a containment zone by the Khordha District Administration.

All of them have been kept in isolation inside the college hostel following the detection of 31 Covid cases. The contact tracing of Covid positives and the sanitization process of the college premises have been initiated.

All the Covid positives were suffering from mild symptoms and their health condition is said to be stable. The Covid positives have been asked not to move out of the declared micro containment zone and nobody else will be allowed to enter into the zone.

It is to be noted that Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hold a review meeting on Tuesday at 5 pm to assess the current situation of COVID-19 in the state.

There has been an alarming rise in Covid cases in Odisha today with 680 positives including 263 from Khordha and 119 children. Among the 680 positives, 397 are quarantine cases and 283 are local contacts.

Earlier this morning the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed the DCP office at Vani Vihar for a period of two days from January 4 to January 5 after four officials detected with positive for Covid-19.
