Malkangiri: Police and Maoists were engaged in a fierce gun battle in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district which shares its border with Odisha’s Malkangiri.
Casualties have been reported on both sides. 2 CRPF jawans and 1 Maoist have lost their lives in the exchange of fire.
A CRPF deputy commander and 7 jawans have been serious injured. They were later shifted to the Raipur Medical College.
The martyred jawans were a part of the 204 battalion of CRPF.
The CRPF followed a police intelligence report and planned a search operation.
The Maoists ambushed them during the operation.
After this incident combing operations have been intensified in the area.
