Junagarh: In a tragic road mishap, a 13-year-old boy was killed at Mathura Chhak on National Highway-26 under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Dharmanand Bagarti.
Dharmanand, who went out of his home early this morning to pluck flowers for puja suffered the mishap a few minutes later. While returning home by riding his bi-cycle a Jaypatna-Balangir passenger bus namely ‘Gyatri’ hit ran over him on the highway after the driver lost control over the wheels.
While the victim died on the spot, angry locals blocked the highway by sitting on it and burning tyres protesting the incident. They also demanded for a suitable compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.
Road communication between Bargarh and Borigumma was completely disrupted due to the blockade for hours.
Police have rushed to the spot and are trying to pacify the mob.
