Angul: At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injuries after the scooter they were travelling by was hit by a truck at CPP Chhak under Nalco police limits in Angul district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Das, a resident of capital city Bhubaneswar.
As per the report, Sanjay who worked in Tata company was returning home riding a blue Honda Activa bearing registration number-OD 33 D 0768 when the mishap took place. The driver of a speeding truck which was heading in the same direction lost control over the wheels and ended up mowing down the Sanjay’s scooter from behind.
While Sanjay died on the spot, the pillion driver was rushed to Angul DHH in critical condition post the mishap.
Irate locals blocked the National Highway-55 post the mishap demanding the arrest of the accused driver.
