1 killed, 14 injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Nabarngpur/Nayagarh: At least one person was killed and 14 others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps in Odisha’s Nabarangpur, Nayagarh and Bhadrak districts since last night.

In the first incident which took place in Karaga under Umerkote block late last night, head-on collision between two bikes left one person dead and another critically injured. The deceased has been identified as Kailash Majhi. Critically-injured is Ranvijay Sharma.

Police have seized the body for autopsy and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.

In a similar incident later in the same night, driver of a passenger bus bearing registration number- OR133788 and carrying passengers from Nayagarh to Kumbharpada lost control over the wheels and hit a roadside tree.

At least 10 persons sustained injuries, 5 of them critically, in the mishap and were rushed to Gania, Nayagarh and Bhubaneswar hospitals for treatment.

In the third incident which took place in the wee hours today, a Tata Indigo vehicle bearing registration number-OR 05 AA 5145 and carrying a family from Mato Dakhina Sahi of Chandbali in Bhadrak district. The mishap took place after driver lost control over the vehicle and caused it to skid off Chandanpur-Mahulia road to fell into a roadside pond.

At least 3 persons who sustained injuries in the crash were rushed to Chandbali CHC with the help of fire services personnel later. Condition of one of them is said to be critical.
